Digital Assets (Mobile App, Website, SMS, Merchant Portal & App, social media, SMS, Emails) and Citizen Engagement Operations Team (Managing Content, Merchant Ecosystem, Analytics, Helpdesk & Registration) make up the DigiThane solution. It is a unified citizen-municipality interaction/transaction layer that is used to make decisions based on citizens’ static and dynamic data.

PCMC Smart Sarathi: Citizen Engagement Platform for Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation

PCMC Smart Sarathi is the official mobile application and web portal of Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Ltd. PCMC Smart Sarathi is an initiative of Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Ltd. in collaboration with Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation(PCMC), to create a sustainable two way Citizen Engagement Platform. The city of Pimpri Chinchwad required a comprehensive, fully integrated e-governance system that could effectively manage and facilitate two-way communication between the PCMC and its residents. PCMC Smart Sarathi is a digital platform that incorporates and promotes e-governance and community engagement. The PCMC Smart Sarathi initiative revolves around transforming the conventional methods of the PCMC from ‘Reactive’ to ‘Proactive’ and eventually an ‘Intelligently Active’ city corporation.

Hence in an attempt to uplift the citizens’ standard of living, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has raised the bar in terms of its processes and governance. The corporation’s proactive approach has helped to bridge gaps between the corporation and its citizens. Thus the emergence of an e-governance application formed PCMC Smart Sarathi under the corporation’s Smart City Project.


  • App Downloads: More than 1.76 lacs citizens downloaded the application within last 18 months
  • Massive reach out to citizens: More than 8.71 crore one-way interactions has been established with the citizens of PCMC in real-time basis.
  • Two Way Communications: 60 Cr two-way interactions / responses have been received from Pimpri Chinchwadkars through mobile app & social media channels
  • Facilitating Faceless Governance: 18000+ citizens interacting with municipality everyday
  • Citizen Awareness Program: Various initiatives encouraging citizen participation like Covid-19 containment zone information map & Covid-19 daily cases dashboard during pandemic were utilized by nearly 15+ lakh citizens to find their area is following under containment zone or
  • Merchants: Within a span of 3 working months PSS has enrolled more than 300 active merchants with 1200+ benefits published online

Lower cost of living for PCMC citizens: Merchants provided discounts and offers in the range of 10% to 40%. PCMC Smart Sarathi users availed these discounts reducing the cost of living for the Pimpri Chinchwadkar citizens

  • Emergency SOS: Response rate for plasma donation has a turnaround time of less than 30 mins. More than 10 lives have been saved through emergency SOS of PCMC Smart
  • Better utilization of online utility services: Citizens using this mobile app & web portal for property tax payment, water tax payment, applying for birth & death certificate, Daily PCMC updates &
  • Citizen from every stage of life cycle and income group: From children to senior citizen benefited from various events and campaigns
